Whether we’re starting from scratch, or making what’s old new again, safely constructing gas distribution infrastructure is what we’re laser-beam focused on every day.
To safely get where the work is and cause minimal, if any, disruption to what’s around the job, we use the best drilling, digging and trenching technology and techniques.
For utilities like Nicor Gas, we’ve successfully delivered modernization programs that numbered millions of meters. Modernizing, relocating, we do that and more.
Every day, we safely build, repair and improve America’s gas distribution infrastructure. Our work powers businesses, government offices and homes. Wherever we go, whatever we work on and whomever we work for, our passion is safety and making what we build the best.
Nicor Gas, 3P Utility Services, the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Chicago Laborers’ District Council and the Chicago Federation of Labor have teamed up to install approximately 1.4 million two-way communication devices onto existing natural gas meters.
To meet mandates from a U.S. metropolitan fire department and its city’s building code, a multinational electric and gas company called on 3P Utility Services to help the utility install shut-off devices outside buildings, so first responders can easily turn off gas service during emergencies.
For situations where crews are working all day with a hydrovac truck that’s burning gallons and gallons of fuel per hour, an electric solution could be interesting,” said Patrick Kramer, a project manager for 3P Utility Services, a minority-controlled union contractor specializing in gas distribution infrastructure.
“They have the equipment and experience to eliminate risk.”
"3P Utility Services’ ISNetworld rating is an A; their safety record is a big part of why we chose to work with them."
“They have experienced employees from the gas industry, and they’re not running up to a union hall to grab employees to fill out crews.”
“They were conscientious about following our safety and O&M standards.”
“Whether it’s pipe replacement, welding, meter changeouts, odorizers or installing regulator stations, they can do it all, and they have a different set of employees for each type of work; 3P gives you specialists.”
